Do you know any cure or treatment for a breathing allergy?

I’m 18 and since I was born I have a breathing allergy, it is not asthma and I do not get swollen, it’s just that some things such as dust, humidity, certain fabrics make me unable to breath, and I’m afraid of using pills because most of them cause heart diseases so I’m wondering if there’s any cure that doesn’t risk my heart or any other part of my body in that case.

Any ideas for chronic urticaria & angiodema?

I have been a sufferer of these rashes/swellings for 30 years now & tried many ‘cures’. They come sporadically, but this attack has been going since February 2009. Apart from scratching my skin off to ease the itching or hiding indoors looking like an ‘alien’ -any suggestions.

I had chronic urticaria and angioedema for 10 years and my hands and feet would swell up and look almost like footballs along with hives on the skin all over.

Anyway, I went on the Atkins diet to lose 50 pounds and within about a month, all my hive problems went away before I even lost weight. Upon further investigation, found out that I can’t eat gluten. As long as I stay gluten free, I don’t have any problems and I have been gluten free-hive free for 7 years. Gluten is found in wheat, rye and barley.

Before you go on a gluten free diet, get tested for celiac disease. That involves blood work and possibly an endoscopic exam. After the testing- whatever the results, try a gluten free diet for 2-3 months to see if it helps. The easiest way to start is to eat fresh fruits and veggies, non-processed fresh beef, chicken, pork, fish, eggs and cheese. Add in rice and potatoes for starches. Stay away from breads, pastas, commercially prepared sauces and gravies.

What is a good home remedy for the Hives?

I broke out in the hives 3 days ago. So I went to the ER and they gave me a few shots and sent me home, but 3 hrs later I was broke out again and have been for three days now. I’m miserable. I have and Appt with my Family Care Practitioner tomarrow, but what can I do to get through tonight. I don’t think I can handle another morning of Hives. It’s a horrible way to wake up

benedryll is the best 2 tablets or capsules. You can also take some tylenol or motrin to help. But that is about all you can get over the counter.

I took my dog to the vet today for his skin allergies?

I took my dog to the vet today for his allergies… he has been on Benadryl 2X per day for his allergies and it seemed to not be affective … the vet told me to take him off his Benadrly and prescribed him Hydroxyzine 50mg 3x per day.. has anyone ever used this before and if so was it effective?

my parents dog has an unknown allergy, the vet gave her something which i can’t remember the name of, but after a year of spending £30 a month, he told my parents that they could give the dog a person’s allergy tablet like Piriton! (half for a small dog)
I’m not sure if you’ll be able to but now you know! (vet probably won’t give you a genuine answer as he wants you to buy the medicine from him, – try calling a different vet and asking!) good luck!

Best treatment for Hives?

Besides salt baths and Hydrocortizone cream, I am wondering what I can do. It has been 2 days…arms, fingers, face.

Any advice? Angioedema with urticaria condition?

I do have an angioedema and urticaria for my whole life, I guess. I do remember have few episodes like a child ( my lips or eyes got very swollen ), but when I got older, it came back- around age 28- for 6 months I had episode of hives and swelling ( in my case usually they’re going together ) every day. Then it stopped-I was 3 months pregnant. Maybe pregancy helped, I do not know. 2.5 years after, it is back. Hives almost every day…and yesterday I even got that terrible upper lip swelling and hives on my abdomen. I feel depressed right now because of it. I couldn’t get out with my kids, because I looked like someone beat me up. Any advice? I do not have an insurance, so I don’t know, what should I do. I am scared sometimes because of it. Seems pretty serious. I am taking Cetirizine , I feel like it helping me, but probably not enough. …Can you help? maybe your story or advice …thanks …and is it an autoimmune disorder or what is it?

You can have urticaria triggered by several different conditions- cold, heat, pressure, vibration, solar to name some. Think of it as a condition that is always present and when there is a trigger you get the outbreak of hives.

I am going to add some references that I have found over the years and also tell you a little about my problems with urticaria and a solution that worked for me.

I had urticaria for 10 years, triggered mainly by pressure but sometimes by heat or cold. I found that a combination of claritin D and serevent or advair worked to keep the outbreaks from happening and that if I did have an outbreak 8-12 mg of medrol would ease them and usually break it up quickly.

After 10 years, I went on the Atkins diet to lose 50 lbs and all of a sudden I noticed I wasn’t having any outbreaks and was feeling better. Stopped the medicines slowly, still no outbreaks. Started looking at what foods I had started eating and what I had quit eating and through a process of trial and error found out that gluten was the culprit. I had quit eating breads, pastas etc for the diet. Gluten is found in wheat, rye and barley and things made from them. So I have been gluten free med free and hive free for 7 years now.

If you want to try this, I recommend you get your doctor to test you for celiac disease and dermititis herpetiformis BEFORE you try a gluten free diet. The test isn’t valid unless you are still eating gluten containing foods. Then if the tests are positive, you will have a diagnosis and go on a gluten free diet and you should see a lessening of symptoms. If the tests are negative, still try the gluten free diet for 2-3 months to rule out non-celiac gluten intolerance or a gluten allergy.

NO because you don’t know what is in it that could harm the cat and also you have no dosage for the cat. Human medicine is not made for cats and can cause harm or even death. You need a vet to give you medication to get rid of the cold and before it becomes very serious. I am sorry, but I can not recommend human medication for felines.

What are the most promising treatments for food allergies, including alternative?

I have food allergies to most raw fruits, vegetables and nuts. My allergies include: tomatoes, peanuts, apples, pears, melons (all kinds), bananas, berries (all kinds), spinach, lettuce. I gradually became allergic to most of these over time with increasingly adverse reactions; mouth and throat itching and swelling.

Wow, that’s a long list of allergies. You should seek professional advice for this, perhaps even look into natural remedies, though with a grain of salt. Most people are probably not knowledgeable enough to give you a comprehensive and helpful answer, so again, you should seek a doctors advice who specializes in these topics, and not just one doctor, but many. Why do I get hives if I’m not allergic to anything?

They just appear usually on my head. Then I take prednisone which I don’t like. Any reason or treatment?

When I worked at a stressful job and went to college at night, I’d get hives right before a test. The doctor diagnosed the hives as stress induced. He said that stress depletes the body of B-vitamins so I started taking a B multivitamin and the hives decreased. After I quit the stressful job to attend college full time, no more hives.
